synopsis
In this delightful and timely tale, Jon is a young boy who obeys his parents and loves to read. When Jon's father returns from the downs--scared and upset because he has seen a dragon--Jon volunteers to go and deal with the beast. His parents refuse, saying that it is too dangerous, but Jon sneaks out that evening anyway. When Jon finds the dragon, he realizes the dragon isn't mean or scary at all. He is a lovable fellow who loves to tell stories and write poetry! Jon goes back to tell his parents that the dragon is rather nice, but it is too late. By now, the whole town has learned of the dragon and has called for a brave knight, St. George, to kill the beast. It is now up to Jon to save his friend and convince the town that peace is often much better than fighting.
