Periodically, we offer workshops on subjects from auditioning to acting to stagecraft and beyond. Members enjoy discounted rates, but all are welcome.

STAGECRAFT WORKSHOPS!

Saturday, January 14 and Saturday, January 21 from 10:00-2:30
in the A2CT Studio
$5 per one-hour workshop
$20 for full day/$10 full day for A2CT members


A2CT will hold a series of workshops on various aspects of stage production on Saturday, January 14 and Saturday, January 21, between 10am-2:30pm each day at the A2CT Studio, 322 West Ann Street, Ann Arbor, MI, 48104. As a part of Civic Theatre’s education series, these one-hour workshops will offer an overview of sound, lighting, set, props, make-up/hair, and costume design, as well as stage management. Each session will be led by local technical theater experts from A2CT, local colleges, and the acclaimed technical theater department at Community High School. The workshops are designed for those in grade 6 through adult, and those attending may attend any or all sessions. Each individual session is $5, or $20 for a pass for all sessions per day ($10 for A2CT members). The workshops on January 14 begin with an introduction to technical theater, followed by sessions on lighting design, sound design, and set design. The workshops on January 21 feature sessions on stage management, props design, hair and makeup design, and costume design. There will be a lunch break from noon-12:30 each Saturday, and participants staying for afternoon sessions are invited to bring a lunch or purchase pizza for $5.

INTRO TO STAGE COMBAT WORKSHOP

Saturday, February 18 from 2-5 PM
in the A2CT Studio
$20 for A2CT members/$25 for non-members

Ann Arbor Civic Theatre is pleased to offer a 3- hour introduction to stage combat, focusing on unarmed combat technique on Saturday, February 18 from 2-5 PM at the A2CT Studio, 322 West Ann Street, Ann Arbor, MI 48104. The class will offer rehearsal strategies of use to any actor, stage manager, or director approaching stage combat or physical contact onstage.  The workshop will be taught by Melissa Freilich, Society of American Fight Director Advanced Actor Combatant and Dueling Arts International Associate Instructor, and A2CT director and fight choreographer.


This workshop is open to those ages 18 and up at a cost of $20 for A2CT members and $25 for non-members. Due to limited space, pre-registration is required. A2CT plans to offer additional in-depth classes focusing on various weapons, and culminating in testing and Dueling Arts certification in the near future. This introductory workshop is a great first step for those potentially interested in certification.
