Ann Arbor Civic Theatre (A2CT), in collaboration with the Drama area of the Performing Arts Department at Washtenaw Community College, is offering a free workshop for people interested in auditioning for musicals. The workshop will be held Saturday, March 13, from 1-4pm at the Washtenaw Community College Liberal Arts Building, College Theater, room 175. The workshop is limited to 20 participants ages 12 and older. Pre-registration is required and can be done by calling the A2CT office at (734) 971-2228, or by visiting the website at www.a2ct.org
As part of a grant from Pfizer to increase participation in Ann Arbor Civic Theatre, this workshop will focus on general auditioning topics for musicals, as well as specific tips on auditioning for A2CT. Led by veteran director Wendy Sielaff and choreographer Tawna Dabney, the workshop will cover many auditioning issues including on-the-spot dancing, finding the right audition song and "selling" it, instant character development, and more. This workshop will be particularly helpful for those interested in auditioning for Ann Arbor Civic Theatre, and is designed for beginners as well as experienced actors. Participants should prepare a short song for the workshop.
Workshop leader Wendy Sielaff has many musical directing credits to her name, including this season’s smash hit Chicago for A2CT. Tawna Dabney teaches dance in the area and has choreographed Chicago and Jekyll and Hyde for A2CT.
