Auditions for Original Plays at A2CT

Ann Arbor Civic Theatre announces auditions for its staged readings of the two winning entries from its 2007 playwriting contest, Playing Around. Heartland Tales, by Jon Elliott will be directed by Andy Hoag, and Come, Beauty, by Franco Vitella will be directed by Kent Klausner. All auditions take place at A2CT’s rehearsal studio at 322 W. Ann St.

Heartland Tales is a series of loosely-related vignettes about life in America. The cast calls for 4 men, ages 20-50 and 3 women, ages 2-45 for a variety of roles. Auditions for Heartland Tales are Sunday, June 3 from 7pm-9pm and Monday, June 4 from 6pm-8pm. Actors are asked to prepare a one minute monologue.

Come, Beauty is a unique, non-linear theatrical production in the style of Waiting for Godot. There are roles for 3 men, ages 18-90 and one woman, age 18-30. Auditions consist of cold readings and movement. Auditions for Come, Beauty are Sunday, June 3 from 5-7pm and Monday, June 4 from 8-10pm.

Actors need attend only one audition session for each production and may audition for both shows.

Playing Around: Readings of New Works will run Friday and Saturday evenings, July 6-14, at 8pm at A2CT’s Studio Theater. For additional production or audition information, call the A2CT office at 734-971-2228, or visit the website at www.a2ct.org.
