A2CT continues to deliver a very high quality theatrical experience to our city and “Playing Around” was no exception. A2CT managed to produce two sold-out staged readings of new plays. This speaks volumes about the interest that Civic sparks in its patrons. Thank you A2CT, for continuing to be the artistic home for so many talented people and providing this forum for new play development. Bravo!

"My favorite part of Junior Theatre’s “Rapunzel” was working with the other child actors because they were entertaining, enthusiastic and fun."
Austin Reichard, age 14
The performance was one we all thought was the best we have ever seen at A2CT!! The actors were outstanding, and their performance can only be described as powerful!

A2CT was a genuine catalyst for my success. It fostered and strengthened my skills as an actor and ignited an awesome addiction to the stage. A2CT, and the friends I made there, hold a very special place in my heart.

I can tell you this about “Death of a Salesman.” In 1958. At that time Ted was the full time director of Ann Arbor Civic Theatre. I look back with great fondness on the many plays my husband, Ted Heusel, directed for Ann Arbor Civic Theatre. How lucky we were to have the camaraderie of many Civic friends, as well the joy of sell-out houses.

Stephen Sondheim said that Sweeney Todd was his favorite show. I had a wonderful experience directing it in 1982. It came at a very difficult time in my life and everyone, especially Jim Posante, propped me up and saved the day. Everyone worked their buns off; people who usually play leads wanted to be in the chorus just to be involved in the show. I couldn’t have been happier with our Sweeney Todd!

We support Civic Theatre because it is a unique and fragile treasure for our community. It presents a broad selection of musicals, drama, comedy, classic plays that are performed by talented local actors. It has open audition-anyone can play. One can learn how to direct, act, produce, and stage a production. Or you can just sit back and enjoy some of the best performances of the best shows that you will ever see. We encourage our friends to dig deep and support the incredible value that Ann Arbor Civic Theatre provides to our community.
