Technical Theatre Troupe

Keeping it real

The troupe will learn all aspects of tech theatre; costumes, makeup, lighting, sound, set building, design, and props. We will also explore different practices and crafts involved in tech theatre.

Doing real theater

We will be have opportunities to work on main stage Civic shows as well as Jr theater shows, as well as other theater out in the real world.

We will be in blacks, trained in tech theater, backstage operations and safety!

Real world of tech theatre

Field trips and hands on opportunities out in the pro theater world will allow members to improve their skills and also learn and explore how professionals in the real world work.

Our troupe will meet on a regular basis, to keep up on our skills and build community, and support one another.

We will practice safe working skills and teach backstage shop and theater safety.

Students will always be supervised by trained adults.

Can I still do school theatre programs? YES! We will in fact support one another as students do different shows in their own programs. For example if someone gets a job in their high school show as a spot operator, we can spend some time teaching how to use the spot.

Leadership: We will be led by Brice O’Neal, a technical director and experienced theatre educator, Brice also brings over 30 years experience working with youth at camps and in youth ministry. Other adults will be involved to insure safe supervision and sharing of skills with our troupe. We will also have other professionals in tech theater help us learn skills as well as working with adults in community theater.

Student Leadership: Senior high school students will provide youth leadership. This both gives leadership experience and ensures youth have a voice in the troupe!
