In 1809, on an English estate, a forward-thinking girl and her tutor explore concepts from mathematics, nature, and physics; in the present era, two writers explore the same grounds in search of hermits and Byron. One of Stoppard's finest works, this play explores the past and present, order and disorder, and the continuity of existence.
