Classes and Workshops
Are you interested in getting involved at Ann Arbor Civic Theatre, but aren't sure where to start? Want to try something new? Check out our workshops! Periodically, we offer workshops on subjects from auditioning to acting to stagecraft and beyond.
Ann Arbor Civic Theatre, in conjunction with the Dramatist Guild Michigan, is pleased to offer a Writers' Cafe as part of the Guild’s End of Play initiative.
The Writers’ Cafe is Saturday, March 7 from 1:00 to 4:00pm at A2CT’s Studio, 322 W. Ann St., Ann Arbor, MI, 48104. The workshop is free and open to the public. Those interested may register by emailing email@example.com. The Cafe will be facilitated by area playwrights and Dramatist Guild members. The Cafe is open to anyone participating in the End of Play initiative. Participants do not have to be a Guild or A2CT member to join the conversation. During the Cafe, participants will be encouraged to pitch ideas, read short excerpts (5-10 pages), and discuss barriers to completing their End of Play project. The workshop is geared towards adults, 18 and older. For more information about the Writers’ Cafe, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Anita Gonzalez, Dramatist Guild Regional Representative for Michigan, said the goal of End of Play is to encourage writers to finish a project and build community at the same time. The initiative will culminate in public readings at the A2CT Studio on April 11. Writers can set their own goals, but suggestions include writing a new full-length play/musical, two one act plays/musicals, or completing a second draft of any of these. Walk-ins are welcome!
