Short Plays, Cold Readings, Warm Planet:

An Evening of New Plays

Ann Arbor Civic Theatre is pleased to invite playwrights and the community to participate in an evening of new plays, Short Plays, Cold Readings, Warm Planet, on Friday, February 28, 2020 in Civic’s Studio, 322 W. Ann St., Ann Arbor.

This event is inspired by the success of Civic’s popular new play festival, The Play’s the Thing. Area playwrights, as well as the general public, are invited to write and read short original plays (5 to 10 pages) around the theme of Global Warming.

We encourage writers to use the list ingredients provided below, but it’s not required. We do ask that the plays incorporate the theme and be written for this event. Writers must bring readers copies, one for each character and one for stage directions.

Even if you don’t have a new play to share, we hope you’ll join us. It’s a fun evening for actors and audience as well as writers. Please RSVP to You can also just show up. The event is free.

The evening includes a potluck, so we ask folks to bring some food or drink to share. We’ll provide the plates, napkins and forks. Doors open at 6pm, Potluck at 6:30pm, and Readings begin at 7pm. Plays will be read on a first come, first serve basis.
