As Ann Arbor Civic Theatre (A2CT) approaches its 100th anniversary, we’re seeking an Executive Director to help direct the organization’s next act—one that honors a century on stage while setting the scene for an ambitious future. This is an opportunity for a collaborative, imaginative arts leader ready to support an organization at a pivotal moment in its evolution. We’re looking for someone who thrives at the intersection of creativity and strategy—someone who can guide fundraising, programs, partnerships, and organizational direction while championing a culture of belonging and community impact.

You’re a relationship-builder, a storyteller, and a steady operational leader with a strong track record in nonprofit arts management, fundraising, and donor engagement. In this role, you’ll help shape the vision, deepen community connections, and steward the supporters who make the mission possible—all while ensuring the organization remains vibrant, sustainable, and forward-looking.

What You’ll Do

Fundraising & Advancement

  • Grow and energize A2CT’s fundraising efforts—cultivating donors, securing grants and sponsorships, and ensuring every supporter feels connected to the heart of our work.

Community Presence & Partnerships

  • Serve as one of A2CT’s public voices, strengthening partnerships with community organizations, schools, civic leaders, and audiences who believe in the power of local theatre.

Marketing & Outreach

  • Support marketing, storytelling, and outreach efforts that broaden visibility, welcome new participants, and reflect the full diversity of our community.

Facilities & Future Planning

  • Play a key role in the search for A2CT’s future home and lead the transition into that next space when the time arrives—helping shape the process with care, clarity, and collaboration.

Financial & Strategic Management

  • Manage financial planning and reporting in collaboration with the Board Treasurer and Finance Committee, ensuring transparency, insight, and strategic decision-making.

Operations & Administration

  • Oversee the efforts of the Operations Manager in handling the daily operations that keep A2CT moving, including facilities, rentals, scheduling, budgeting, and supporting the team that brings productions and programs to life.

People & Culture

  • Champion and support staff and volunteers, nurturing a collaborative, inclusive environment where creativity thrives and people feel valued.

Your Strengths & Expertise

  • A seasoned arts nonprofit leader with 7+ years of hands-on management experience, including proven success in fundraising, donor relations, and community partnerships.

  • A strategic thinker who can balance long-term vision with steady, thoughtful day-to-day leadership.

  • A natural communicator who builds trust easily—with donors, partners, volunteers, artists, and the community.

  • A collaborative leader who listens deeply, values shared ideas, and knows how to turn collective vision into action.

  • A champion of accessible, community-rooted theatre who believes in the power of the arts to connect, uplift, and transform.

  • A creative problem-solver who sees challenges as openings and thrives in environments that evolve, stretch, and inspire.

  • Someone who leads with inclusion, transparency, and joy—modeling the values they hope to cultivate across the organization.
