About
About Ann Arbor Civic Theatre:
Building Our Community
History
We believe that theatre is more than just entertainment—it is a vital mechanism for connection. Founded in 1929, Ann Arbor Civic Theatre was built on an open-door policy: a belief that a community thrives when its members create together. Hundreds of productions later, we continue to provide an artistic home for the Greater Ann Arbor area, proving that while faces and stages change, our collective need for shared stories remains constant.
Mission & Social Impact
Ann Arbor Civic Theatre exists to strengthen the social fabric of the Greater Ann Arbor area. In an increasingly disconnected world, we intentionally cultivate both bonding and bridging social capital. We create deep, lasting connections within our membership while actively opening doors to bridge diverse backgrounds across our broader community. We value and promote creative excellence and personal artistic growth through:
Presentation of quality theatre performances by and for the community.
An Open Invitation for anyone to participate in all aspects of theatrical production, no prior experience required.
Development of local talent through multi-generational educational workshops, apprenticeships, and performance opportunities.
Our Board
Our Board members come from all walks of life, volunteering their time to ensure A2CT remains a sustainable cornerstone of the Greater Ann Arbor community for generations to come. Board members serve terms of 2–3 years and meet monthly.
