Some Major utility upgrades and road improvements will impact traffic and street access surrounding the theater. Please review the specific closures and dates below to plan your trip.
📅 Impacted Dates
May 26 – August 22, 2026: Heavy construction window with immediate road closures right next to the theater.
Through Fall 2026: Ongoing area-wide utility projects will continue to cause general downtown traffic delays.
🗺️ Affected Roads & Closures
North First Street (Huron St. to Ann St.): CLOSED to all through-traffic.
First Street & Washington Street Intersection: CLOSED entirely for sewer trunkline microtunneling.
West Washington Street: Closed to through-traffic between First St. and Third St.
Miller Avenue: Expect daytime single-lane closures with flag-control through May 30 for sidewalk and pavement restoration.
Getting to the theater is still easy, but a few local traffic adjustments are in place! You can still access the Ann Arbor Civic Theatre using our primary routes:
Huron St. Entrance: You still maintain full access to our theater via Huron St. by using the driveway located just prior to the Delonis Center.
Normal Entrance: Our standard entrance can still be easily accessed from Miller Ave. and First St.

Give Yourself Extra Time: We recommend arriving a few minutes earlier than usual to navigate around any neighborhood construction or traffic shifts.
Plan Your Route: Review your route before you head out to ensure a smooth arrival.
